Testimony from Nigeria

Patrice is a member of our youth Sabbath School class. Through his witness, his friend Thomas came to Christ and was baptized last year. Both of them are very eager to share their faith.

Thomas is Otammari, but he grew up in Nigeria where a fairly large population of Otammari is doing agriculture. Every year during summer vacation he goes back to Nigeria to help his family in the fields. Before Thomas left this year, Patrice told him, “Make sure you find an Adventist church there. Nigerian Adventists are very active. Maybe you can learn something from them!” The two of them keep in touch, and the other day Patrice shared this testimony from Thomas with the Sabbath School class:

“When Thomas went to church for the first time in Nigeria, he was easily identified as an Otammari by his facial scarring, and people were overjoyed to see him. The church members there had tried to reach out to the Otammari people for some time, but the language barrier had made it very difficult. Now they had an interpreter and would be able to overcome this obstacle! With Thomas’ help, in only a few weeks they started a group in the village where Thomas’ family lives, and people are already meeting regularly. Thomas is learning how to lead meetings and conduct Bible studies.”

Soon Thomas will come back for the new school year. Please pray for him, Patrice and other young people as they learn and practice how to share their faith. Pray that they will grow to become strong spiritual leaders for their people. Also pray for this new group in Nigeria, that the church will find someone else to translate so that they can continue to learn about Christ.
