Introducing Martin and Marna Smith

A little more than a year ago, God called us to serve as career missionaries, and what a year it has been! Only a month after we were baptized into the Seventh-day Adventist Church, His call came. Two months later, we attended orientation in South Africa. Faced with six potential places to minister, we prayed earnestly, and so did our church’s prayer group. On the second-to-last day of orientation, God clearly answered our prayers and showed us that He wants us to serve the Georgians in the former Soviet republic of Georgia.

The road up to this point in our lives has been anything but predictable. As we look back, we can clearly see why God permitted everything to happen as it did. The hard times, happy times and sad times all worked together to mold us and prepare us to recognize His voice when He called, “Whom shall I send?”

Before our baptism on November 28, 2015, we lived very different lives. Both of us grew up in wonderful, loving families with Biblical principles. But having knowledge of Jesus and believing in Him is not enough. You have to bear fruit as well. We knew Jesus, even loved Him, but our lives did not reflect Him. Since our baptism, it feels as if we have gone through a metamorphosis. This is absolutely necessary, and we work very hard every single day to crucify our old selves, put on the purity of Christ and stand without spot or wrinkle before our King. And it is our hearts’ desire to help others discover the absolute joy of aligning themselves with God’s will.

Georgia is a small, beautiful country in Eastern Europe bordered by Russia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey and the Black Sea. With approximately 400 Adventists in a population of 4.5 million, Georgians are an unreached people group.

•  We invite you to join our prayer team to pray for us and the people of Georgia.

•  Join our support team to give the Georgians the opportunity to step into the light and stand on the sea of glass.

•  By God’s grace and with your faithful prayers and continued support, we can go and establish the first AFM project in this unreached country.
