Are You Satisfied With Your Witness

Real believers want to bear fruit. Ever since GoTential began two years ago, I have been hearing from real believers across North America who say, “I would like to be able to learn how to witness in my workplace. Can you help me?” By this I understand that they love the idea of tentmaking and want to start right where they are.

I love to be asked to train people in gospel sharing because I love working with Christians who are yearning to step up their faith experiences. These are folks who don’t want to be just hearers of the Word, but doers of the Word. They are raising their hands to volunteer to join the ranks of the 70 whom Jesus sent out. Wouldn’t you? Wouldn’t you like to be among those 70 who returned with jubilant wonder, praised God and exclaiming, “Even the demons submitted to us!”

There are many across North America who wish they could upgrade their witnessing impact. These people are looking to put themselves in the middle of the river of God’s miraculous power, igniting eternity in the hearts of others. They are dying to be the connecting link between heaven and a co-worker or neighbor or even a stranger. And they aren’t content with how they have been going about it.

Perhaps they are giving out books or GLOW tracts, but they sense that there is something to Christ’s method of discipleship that they are missing. Maybe you have experienced frustration yourself, where you start a spiritual conversation and end up talking about vegetarianism or why we are not Mormon, and you leave asking yourself, Why didn’t I talk about Jesus?

Maybe even as you read this you feel a pang of longing to better reach the people around you. How would you rate your desire to be a gospel light to someone near you? If it is high, does your ability to share match your zeal?

Here are two things I have to offer you:

1) Sign up for GoTential’s “Fishing School” monthly email blog at www.bit.do/gotential or simply text your email address to: 737-777-9099. You can also read past lessons at www.gotential.org/fishingschool.

2) Consider having your church hold a weekend workshop we call “Multiply.” Arrange a weekend well in advance, and I will come and hold a special training event featuring a simple one-on-one discipleship method that is radically different, progressively apostolic, and irresistibly Christ-centered. It doesn’t require lots of materials or heavy theology. If this interests you, email coach@gotential.org

Yes, there are many Adventists in North America who are tantalized by the thought of being tentmaker missionaries themselves—if not cross cultural missionaries, at least soul-winners in their daily world. If you are one of them, get in touch with me. Certainly, the starting point for witnessing in Morocco and Mauritania is different than in Missouri or Monterey Bay. However the underlying questions and the overarching goals are the same. There is nothing quite so rewarding as being connected to the Vine and bearing fruit!
