January 18: AFM celebrates Martin Fishell’s 80th birthday. Martin has worked with AFM since its inception and continues to serve as the director of trust services.
May: AFM holds its first annual Phase-Two Training (P2T) session, focused on advanced outreach training for missionaries who have completed their language-learning and culture research phase.
June: After 12 continuous years of AFM service in Asia, the Holbrooks move back to the States for John to go to college. Tim continues to serve as AFM’s Asia-projects supervisor.
November: Cathy Coleman flies to the States for emergency treatment of an infected monkey bite to her hand.
November: The Badés launch to Benin, West Africa; the Timmins family launches to Cambodia; and the Shupes launch to Albania.
December: The Inara family launches to Southeast Asia
December: The Massey family launches to the Middle East.
December: After almost 12 years of service with AFM in Thailand, the Wilsons leave AFM service to direct a new translation center for the South-east Asia Union Mission. December: Due to social and political unrest in Guinea, all AFM personnel are temporarily evacuated. |
