April: The Griswolds and Hookers complete their Cambodia project Bidding farewell to their thriving church-planting movement in Cambodia, the Griswold and Hooker families returned to the States praising God for His increase. Shortly thereafter, Scott Griswold accepted the directorship of the Buddhist Studies center near Bangkok, Thailand, and Arnold Hooker joined the AFM office staff as the west-coast development representative.
July: The Holbrooks complete their Philippine project The Holbrooks left behind a transformed Alangan people. Death rates, formerly very high, were a fraction of what they’d been. Trained Alangan health workers took over the continuing care and education of their people. Young men, discipled by Tim, traveled deep into the mountains to bring the good news of the gospel to other Alangan villages.
June 1: The Spoons launch to Papua New Guinea The Spoon family, already veteran AFM missionaries to the Philippines, relaunched to PNG to help finish AFM’s work among the Dowa.
July: The Holbrooks begin field supervision work in Asia The Holbrooks put their hard-won experience and wisdom to work as supervisors of AFM’s Asian projects, relocating to Thailand to be central to the work in Asia.
August 12: The Clarks begin field supervision work in Europe/Africa The Clark family, apple farmers from Massachusetts, accepted God’s call to supervise AFM’s Africa and Europe projects.
August: The Petersens launch to Namibia Having already worked among the Himba people of Namibia for some time, Gideon and Pam Petersen joined AFM to begin a church-planting work there.
September 11: In the shock of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the AFM office gathers to pray.
November 28: The Wileys launch to Ireland Vicki Wiley, an AFM office employee, and her husband Kevin, launched to Ireland to pioneer a unique work among the Irish. |
