Current George Prayer Needs

Bubit, Jilin's older sister, just underwent thyroid surgery. The preliminary diagnosis is papillary thyroid hyperplasia, but Tuesday we'll have confirmation as to whether this is cancerous or not. Please pray for her and pray for a correct diagnosis, and that if it is God's will, it not be cancer!

Please pray for my young friend Mindan. She struggles with depression and recently along with conviction for sin and a recommitment to Christ she's been really struggling with "feeling" right with God. After several sessions with her, she's coming to understand that our feelings aren't reliable guides to our right standing with God. The other thing she struggles with is not understanding God's word or the teachings she hears. When I explained to her that even us seasoned Christians don't readily understand everything and that we'll be learning for eternity the depths of the things of God, she seemed relieved that she wasn't alone in her struggles to understand. Anyway, I have her on St. John's wort, which come to find out, she'd quit taking. She does better on it, but still don't want to ignore that she also has spiritual struggles that impact her emotions as well. Mindan is married and has two children. Her husband, Agus, is one of our school teachers and they are fairly happily married. Mindan, though, is an orphan and feels the alienation deeply. She is alienated because she doesn't have any parents to defend her rights, so people makie fun of her, accuse her of things and in general try to make her life miserable. The worst part of it is, that her husbands' family are the worst ones for doing this to her, and yet he feels powerless to move his family OUT of the village. Anyway, that gives you a little insight into Mindan and she thanks you for your prayers. I asked if she'd like people to pray for her int he states, and she was very touched. For some time the Palawano project has been the center of some intense spiritual warfare. The Georges feel that much of the problem is emanating from a woman by the name of Sunya who is, unfortunately, a backslidden church member. Speaking of Sunya, Leonda says ”She controls through insult, shame, accusation and gossip. Pretty strong weapons in a shame-based culture. We, more and more, feel that this stronghold of Satan MUST be broken in order for us to have a thriving congregation, school, etc. here.!!" Let’s keep this woman and the Georges in our prayers.

The Palawan project is experiencing devil possession among the locals. Recently the students at our school in Kensuli were harrassed by an apparition in the night. The teacher who responded to their screams had difficulty breathing and experienced facial numbness when entering the building. They sang and prayed and eventually the atmosphere began to lighten. Leonda is writing Bible studies and was working on the state of the dead when this event occurred. Please pray that God\'s truth will liberate these people.

Ugil is a church member who married out of the faith several years ago. They have two small girls. Their marriage has been a struggle, but as Ugil came back to the Lord, over time, Jiji seemed to be following and we rejoiced to see the changes God was bringing about in his life. He often came to church and expressed an earnest desire to learn God's ways. Recently though, he is turning his back on all he has learned, and is threatening to leave his wife. Ugil is earnest in her desire to serve God, but weak when it comes to the thought of being left alone. Pray that she will remain strong, no matter whether her husband stands by her side or whether she has to walk alone. Pray that Jiji will have a full conversion; have an abhorrence for liquor; feel a thorough disgust for the direction his life is going now and that he will return whole-heartedly to the Lord and make a determined stand for him.

Our foster daughter has been denied access to the US, so we had to leave her behind with good friends in the Philippines while we are on furlough. Pray that she continues to grow in her love of the Lord; pray that she will continue to heal from her attachment disorders, even though she's been "left" again. Pray that her adoption goes through without too many obstacles and that she will then be admitted to the US for visits.

Pray that our Student missionaries who have been left behind while we are on furlough, will have wisdom for the many unexpected decisions they must make. Pray for their health and specifically for protection from malaria. Pray that through this experience they will be even more certain of God's call to a life of missions.
